Busy Week

Well, it's been a very busy week for me.  I'll start on Friday.  Last Friday I went to OHSU for a program called Give Kids a Smile.  This is a service event that the dental school does every year where underprivileged kids have the opportunity to get free dental work done.  Needless to say, this requires a lot of volunteers so it was my pleasure to help out for a few hours.

IMG_2067.JPG That evening Jenn, Natalie, and I went to a small town just at the base of Mt. Hood where we had rented a cabin for the weekend.  Jenn's family showed up later that night and we had a very fun and relaxing time.  Saturday we spent the morning and early afternoon lounging around the cabin and taking it easy (like any good vacation).  In the late afternoon and evening we went night skiing on the mountain and the boys spent most of the time scaring the girls as we caught big air on the table-tops.  It was a blast!

Sunday morning was spent cleaning and getting ready to go as I had to fly to NYC that night.  My plane left Portland Airport at 5:45pm and, after a short layover in Phoenix, landed at JFK Airport in New York at 5:30am Monday Morning.  I quickly changed in the airport bathroom and hopped a cab to the NYU School of Dentistry.  I arrived at 7:00am and my interview was at 8 (5:00am Pacific Time).  I was a bit tired but the interview went really well.  The woman who interviewed me was very nice and we pretty much just chatted the whole time.  She said that I was a good candidate and that she thought I was a good person and she would give me the best recommendation possible.  It felt good to have a good interview and the school was pretty nice but I'm still not sure about living in New York.  We'll have to see what comes of it.  They said we could expect a letter in the mail within two weeks.

IMG_2086.jpg I took a cab to my hotel where I checked in and napped for a couple hours.  After than I took the subway down to NYC and spent some time touring New York City.  Check out the pictures I took in our picture gallery .  I saw Times Square, the biggest Toys R Us Ever!, and FAO Schwartz where Tom Hanks played the huge piano in the movie Big.  It was pretty fun to see all the tall buildings and stuff.  Central park smelled like horse crap (probably because of all the horses) but it was neat to see anyway.  When it started getting dark I took the subway back to my hotel and ordered some authentic New York pizza.  It wasn't much different than any pizza in Portland.

My plane left at 9:45am and I was in Portland at 4:45pm on Tuesday afternoon.  It was pretty nuts but a good time all in all.

Wednesday morning I woke up to an email inviting me for an interview at OHSU.  I quickly called and scheduled it for Friday March 7th.  So, yeah, two interviews in one week!  The interviews at OHSU went really well and we hope to hear from them soon.

Oh yeah, and I had an immunology exam on Thursday Laughing.
