Well my dear friends, I survived year-end at work and actually had less audit errors to fix this year than last year. Now that January is over, and W2's are out, 1099's are done, and books are closed, I can go back to my normal work schedule and start enjoying life with my family again! It has only been a week of working my normal 6-2:30pm shift, but I can already tell you that it's wonderful to be back at home so much!
February brings plans of winter fun to our family. We have rented a cabin on Mt. Hood and we're planning on doing some snowboarding, skiing, and snowshoeing. We will be bringing along my family (except Shelly and Russ who are in Utah) and my cousins! With all the friends and family around, Nathan and I should have time to escape and get a few solid hours of boarding in while Natalie hangs out at the lodge. I cannot tell you how excited I am as this will be the first time I've boarded since getting pregnant with Natalie!!! Hopefully I have not forgotten how to do it, and won't break anything!
Nathan and I have been loving our extra time together and are hoping to escape to the beach sometime soon for a small family outing. The weather has not been that great here in Oregon, but that will just give us some good tide pooling fun! I am working on my piano, and am hoping to finish Natalie's baby book and start her scrapbook. Meanwhile, Nathan braves the rain and continues to golf as much as possible. Natalie is up and moving constantly, which has proven somewhat dangerous! She recently learned to crawl up the stairs at my parents house and fell down when trying to attempt the monstrous climb on her own. Luckily, it did not leave a bruise (although she did have a bump for a few hours). She also has a fascination with holding on to mine and Nathan's fingers and walking around the house multiple times! She loves to walk! Our dear cat Copper has been a good friend to us all. He recently picked up a fascination with q-tips and is given 1 q-tip a day to keep him entertained. It amazes me how those cats are so easily entertained! He is a joy to watch and a great toy for Natalie!
As far as our family goes, that is all the new exciting news we have as of now. However, we did receive some sad news last Sunday Jan 27th, when we found out that our dear prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley passed away at the age of 97. He will be greatly missed as he brought great comfort to me as a youth. I cannot express my gratitude enough for his counsel to the youth to repent, stand a little taller, redirect our lives, and stand as the foundations of righteousness in our families and with our friends. His sincerity and love empowered me to choose the right, redirect my life, and focus on what is really important in my life and in my desire to be a faithful daughter of God. I am so glad I moved to Utah to have the opportunity to focus on what I needed and what the Lord had in store for me. It was a great time for me and gave me great opportunities to redirect my life and repent. Because of President Hinckley's counsel and love, I was able to support my family, sustain them, and also live my life to its fullest, focusing on my desires to be a wife and mother in Zion, my ultimate dream. I pray for our dear President Hinckley, and know that he served as a valiant son of God, reaching all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people. May we honor him, continue his work, and move on to support and sustain our new prophet, Thomas S. Monson.
Loves and Hugs,
Jenn
